Every time we’re in New Jersey, it makes me wonder what we’re still doing in Norway. I mean, Norway is one of the worlds best countries to live in, It’s safe, I have all my family and friends there, I can get work there and so on. Practical and financial things are really good, but is that enough?

How much does the weather matter to you? Nice, warm and sunny days? Compared to cold, dark and rainy days? April and May is usually the most beautiful months in Norway. It’s getting a little warmer, trees and flowers are starting to blossom and everyone is filled with the hope of a long and warm summer ahead of them. Then comes August and everyone is just as disappointed and depressed cause the whole summer rained away. There was a few nice days, but of course you didn’t time your vacation well enough and was instead sitting infront of your computer screen getting Facebook updates from all your friends telling about their beautiful day at the beach. At the beach, the wind was cold and the water freezing, but no one would say anything about that.

The Norwegian weather isn’t all that bad though, when there actually is a nice day, Norway is the best place to be in my opinion! So anyway… As you can guess, the weather matters a lot to me. I guess I always get kind of a winter depression in the cold and dark months. I need more sleep and I just don’t have those crazy happy feelings I always get in the spring. I guess what I’m asking is, would you move to another country because of the weather? Obviously I wouldn’t, since we still live in Norway. For me the weather is the only obstacle there, but of course Scott has a different view, and it all needs to be taken in consideration.

Ahh, oh well, enough rambling. Today is beauuuutiful out, so I’m gonna go do some yoga(!) before I’m heading out to tan the belly! Enjoy the rain back in Norway! :)

Today is a rainy day and we’re staying in. Scott has to catch up on some work and I need to rest my back, which also gives me a good opportunity to make a blog post. Before I left home for the States, I put all my photos on an external harddrive, to make some space on my laptop. What I didn’t think about was that I wanted to post the newest ones on the blog! Luckily I had three pictures still open in Photoshop, so I get to post them now. Enjoy and have a great holiday weekend back in Norway!IMG_9256blogglotte2IMG_9256blogglotte3IMG_9248blogglotte

Last Sunday I had two photography jobs, and therefore Scott and I decided to get our tickets to the States on Monday instead of Friday after work, which we usually do. Somehow we ended up having to take a train to Oslo Sunday morning and I wasn’t able to take the pictures anyway. Luckily for me the girls I was photographing didn’t have any problems with getting dulled up an extra day, so we had them done a few days before. It was for their confirmation and I think it was actually better to do it in advance. We knew we would get sunny weather and we had as much time as needed, no stress :) Here’s Emilie. Some people were born in front of the camera! Gratulerer så mye med vel overstått konfirmasjon!

Morning Glory in Congers, New York

0

I’m waking up to the sound of happy birds outside the window and Oliver kicking me lightly inside my growing belly. It’s dawn. Still early, only 5.30. Scott is sleeping next to me. I always wake up first. Love mornings. Specially this one. We’re in New York. Scott’s grandparents picked us up at JFK after what felt like the longest flight ever over the Atlantic yesterday(Flying pregnant is far from comfortable). Coming here was the best we could’ve done though. Sonja made us lovely dinner and pampered us with everything we needed and didn’t need, making sure that the parents to be were as comfy as possible. Entering this house must be like going through the closet to Narnia. It’s another world in here from what’s outside. Except it’s not imaginary, it’s a piece of Norway. Back in the days it was easier to travel with lots of things, so they’ve brought a lot of stuff from Norway that makes you feel like you’re actually there. The furnitures, the decor, the pictures and paintings on the wall all reminds me of home. The local radio channel from our home town is on and it smells like coffee, Sonja’s sweet perfume and whatever Norwegian traditional dinner that’s cooking. The house is filled with good memories and lots of lots of love! I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t like it here.

I wrote that this morning before Freddie made us French Toast and I went outside to photograph SUMMER (It’s actually green here and flowers and trees are blossoming!). I’m burnt after reading “Eat, Pray, Love” in the sun. Today is perfect and I look forward to spending another ten days here with our family and friends.

Just thought I would post these two photos taken last Saturday morning. Saturday mornings are the best and specially with this great company and the sun shining in the window.. January is almost over and it’s getting lighter outside every day. Very uplifting!

When I edited these photos, I used an action from Florabella. It’s so easy! Just one click, and it looks perfect… You can buy these actions here

2012 Recap

So, I haven’t blogged in ages… But here comes a little recap of the year that passed. sumup-jan

In January I started my own company! Very exciting to make money on my favorite hobby!

One of the winter portraits last January. I was still photographing with an old Canon 450d.

After we got married we were pretty sure Scott would get his Visa right away. That didn’t happen. One day in January, Scott wanted to make sure that he was in Norway legally and found out he wasn’t! He left only two days after. The photo above was one we took on our last day together. We didn’t know how long it would take. When we would see each other again…

In February I came for a weeks visit for Valentine’s. I was starting a new job at another kindergarten, but made sure I could spend a few days in the States first.

We spent time with family in NJ, NYC and Boston.. Here from one of the nice drives up north.

Late summer: We had visits from the States in our new house, we did our living room with lots of good help from family. And I started a new job, running a public kindergarten.

My sister lost her boyfriend in a car accident. I will never forget that day.

It was a pretty fall.

We were tired after doing the living room and were happy to have a TV again after three months without. Lots of working and relaxing. Scott spent a week in the states early October. Then to South Africa.

Aarizona-760x760-sumup-nov

A couple days after hurricane Sandy we were back in New Jersey for family and work. We also spent a few days in Arizona and saw the Grand Canyon. You should try that!

sumup-jul

We spent Christmas in the States.

Here on Christmas Day in NYC

2012 was good. Highlights are definitely Scott’s visa, the house, my job and the baby! Can’t wait for what 2013 are gonna bring us!

Ps. I realize after looking through last years pictures that I need to photograph more at home, and not just in the States! We have spent a lot of time with my family in Norway as well, even though it doesn’t look like that here ;)
